The High Plains Underground Water Conservation District approved grant funding during their recent board of directors meeting in Lubbock. More than $41,000 for grants will be used for water-related research and demonstration projects. Board members also looked at the use of the Dockum Aquifer as a potential water supply source. An economic analysis along with a depth and salinity study of the aquifer will be conducted to see of Dockum could be used in the future. HPWD has approval from the U.S. Geological Survey to conduct the geophysical logging of wells completed in the aquifer.
