Plainview City Council members awarded City Manager Jeffrey Snyder with a new salary and contract extension at last night’s council meeting. Council members had nothing but positive things to say about Snyder following a closed meeting concerning his first year evaluation on the job. They extended his contract 2 additional years for a total of three years with a salary of $140,000. Snyder replaced Greg Ingham, who retired last June.
Council members also approved repairs for a total roof replacement at the Civic Center, awarding the bid of #221,580 by A-Lert Roof Systems. The building’s roof has leaked regularly since it was completed twenty years ago. The new roof will come with a 20 year watertight warranty and inspections every six months by A-Lert. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Linda Morris presented the chamber’s annual report, and the council approved a rebuild of the lift station at 26th Street and Fresno.
Plainview Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Linda Morris funds are still needed for the city’s fireworks display on July 3rd. She says businesses and citizens can help to make the show go on.
She says about $7500 of the $12,000 has been raised so far with 3 and a half weeks remaining before the show. The cost for the show by PyroTex this year has gone up about $2000 from last year.
