Flye leads 7 Bulldogs on All-District FB 1st team

PHS-PDIn a season which featured the first playoff appearance in eight seasons, and the first piece of a district championship in nine years, Plainview Bulldog football received plenty of props from their district foes as the 4-5A All-District team was announced Monday.

Seven players all told received first-team honors, including senior running back Warren Flye, who was named the 4-5A District Offensive MVP. Flye became just the sixth rusher in Bulldog history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season, and was the catalyst that helped the Bulldogs win six of their final seven regular-season games to earn a share of the district title.

Also making the All-District First Team offense from Plainview are sophomore fullback Trendan Jackson and a pair of offensive lineman – senior guard Moises Garcia and junior tackle Crystin Baston. Three players earned All-District First-Team nods on defense – senior linebackers Damian Guerrero and Trent Jones, and senior defensive back Quenion Hines.

Head coach Ryan Rhoades also received recognition, as he was named the 4-5A District Coach of the Year. Rhoades guided the Bulldogs to a 6-4 record and their first playoff appearance since 2006. Plainview also earned a share of their first district championship since 2005.
